Infographic: McDonald’s Hamburger University
McDonald’s is one of the most popular and successful franchises in the world, with over 32,000 McDonald’s restaurants serving more than 64 million people worldwide in 117 countries.
Some people hate McDonald’s for some reason, but we can’t deny the fact that McDonald’s is influential. A proof: Just have a look at McDonald’s Hamburger University – the company’s global center of excellence for training and leadership development.
McDonald’s Hamburger University is a training facility from which McDonald’s personnel can learn about various aspects of the business: restaurant operations, quality, service, cleanliness and value – to name a few.
The Hamburger University – just like McDonald’s restaurants – is located in 7 locations worldwide: the US, UK, Germany, Brazil, China, Japan and Australia.…

In need of a marketing idea? Look to Your Customers
When Tron Jordheim and others at StorageMart started the company’s latest marketing campaign, they looked to their existing customers for inspiration.
The company’s latest campaign slogan, “Save it, Store it, Share it,” came “more an observation of the way people use us already,” said Jordheim, the director of marketing for the self-storage corporation, which operates more than 130 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
The campaign, which started in the past year, tells customers that storage units can be used for more things and in more ways than are normally considered.
“People tend to think of storage as something that somebody else does but not something that I need,” Jordheim said.…

McDonald’s US Sales Decline: A Result of Fierce Price Wars and Recession
McDonald’s is finally faltering from the rising competition and US poor unemployment rapport. Is it representing the big picture of franchising today?
For McDonald’s, it’s always been me against the world – Competitors are doing their best to secure and grow their market shares in the industry. Like it or not, competition always drag the competing entities to price war – and we all do know that price war is where we DON’T want our franchises involved in.
Unfortunately, the recent news of McDonald’s US sales decline indicates that, like it or not, McDonald’s has to play the price war game. As the pressure of unemployment mounting, McDonald’s is finally (and officially) hit by the recession.…
Black Friday 2009 Sales: Should Your Franchise Unit Join the Hype?
Franchisors and franchisees – should you join the Black Friday 2009 sales? Based on the stats, you should.
The day businesses, especially retailers, have been waiting for is finally approaching: The Black Friday on November 27, 2009.
The Black Friday (and the whole Christmas shopping season starting from that day) is the Day for customers to lavishly spend their money and for businesses to attract and serve as many customers as they can. Franchises are definitely on the bandwagon right now and I don’t think you should miss this out.
Papa John’s, for example, has already launched a Black Friday weekend specials: Partnering with Nintendo, they are going to give away – through the Sweepstakes program on their website at PapaJohns.com – 300 Wii Sports Resort prize packages, with an approximate retail value of $330, from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29.…
How to Increase Cash Flow of Your Franchise Unit: Learn from My Mistakes
Cash flow is the life energy of every business, including franchise. Lack of it will drain the life out of your franchise unit – and this is just the beginning.
In the midst of economic turmoil today, we heard this advice all the time: In order for your business to survive, you should increase sales, cut expenses.
With all due respect – I don’t think the above is entirely applicable for the rest of us.
Increasing sales and cutting expense in today’s difficult economy is very challenging, if not very difficult for the rest of us. I do agree that the logic behind it is true – however, we have to keep grounded and get real – With the lower purchasing power and higher overall costs, increasing sales and cutting expense sound pretty much contrary.…
Franchising Podcasts: Learn What the Experts Have Got to Say About Franchise Ownership
Do you want to receive free franchising advice from top franchising experts but too tired to read any franchising articles? Try listening to live podcasts.
The Internet offers wealth of knowledge if you want to learn as much as you can about franchising. You only need to look for the online resources.
One of the resources I would like to recommend is franchising podcasts.
What is podcast anyway?
Podcasts are series of digital media files (most commonly audio) that can be shared and listened to, either live or recorded. Podcasts are commonly come into life in the of online talk shows or online interviews.
I enjoy listening to podcasts on various business topics, as they are often more informative (and informal) than the written forms (blog posts) – And I do prefer listening to talk shows and seminars (webinars) more than reading blog posts, articles and journals.) Just like their written counterparts, podcasts can offer listeners a wealth of information that is available for free (with a hint of sales pitch here and there, but most don’t pitch you at all.)
Podcasts on franchising
I would like to recommend you these two franchising live podcasts from Blog Talk Radio:
Franchise Today Show
Franchise Today Show is co-hosted by two authoritative voices in franchising – Paul Segreto and Joel Libava (a.k.a.…
